The EU has set itself a series of climate change and energy sustainability targets for 2020 – on paper. It is now up to Member States, and subject to Commission review, to transform those commitments into reality – inter alia by putting into place the required National Renewable Energy Action Plans.

2020 is just around the corner: What kind of energy mix should Member States strive for and how best can they attain their renewable energy targets? What kind of policy mix – fiscal, regulatory and other measures – should governments put in place to bring about the necessary changes? What is the role for business – energy producers, utilities, network operators, distributors, engineering and technology firms, and large energy users – and how will they be affected?

This CEPS lunchtime meeting will deal with these and other questions related to renewable energy sources in the context of the “20 20 by 2020” targets.
